We had a very successful afternoon on 9th March for Mart’s 80th birthday
which was held at Poynton Methodist Church where Janet and Mart worship..
Mart Rodger Manchester Jazz played and 170 people turned up for the event.
Quite a lot of Church members were there as well as jazz friends from all
around the area, plus some from Altrincham, Hale, Timperley, Sale,
Handforth, Knutsford and even two good friends who came up from Essex and
stayed a few nights locally.  The wonderful total of £962.40 was raised in
donations and a raffle and this money has been distributed between MHA at
Woodlands in Poynton and Adopt-A-Child, which is based in Inverness.   A
representative from Adopt-A-Child took part in a service at PMC several
years ago and explained how their organization is involved in Christian
schools in Guatamala and Albania.   As a result of this we decided to
sponsor 4-year-old twin boys in Guatamala, which has resulted in regular
photos and correspondence each year.   The boys are nearly ten now.  There
is a good chance that a couple of our friends will be sponsoring soon as
well!   Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event.
